CATENA ZAPATA Catena Winery
At the end of the 19th century, the first generation of the Catena family immigrated to Argentina and planted the first grapevine in 1902, opening the first chapter of this wine empire. After four generations of inheritance, each generation has added color to it with their own talents and abilities. The second generation expanded the business territory of Catena Winery, making it one of the earliest Argentine wine brands to be exported in bottles; the third generation brewed Nicolás Catena Zapata, a fine wine that is comparable to the world's famous wineries; the fourth generation Laura Catena aims to explain Argentina's unique terroir to the world. She personally wrote several books on local food and wine in Argentina, which received phenomenal attention from mainstream media, allowing the world to have a deeper understanding of Argentina's customs and people from a more professional perspective, and was called the "Argentine wine business card" by the outside world.
ZUCCARDI VALLE DE UCO Zuccardi Winery
Zuccardi Winery is now managed by Sebastian Zuccardi, who serves as the president of the winery. Sebastian Zuccardi is the eldest son of Mr. Jose Zuccardi. He is in charge of the vineyards of Uco Vally and the management development and research department, and is responsible for the important work of winemaking and agricultural production testing in the family business. Adhering to his father's lofty ideals and innovative spirit, he has been committed to studying and pioneering new winemaking techniques. Sebastian leads a team of elites to constantly pursue perfect winemaking techniques, refine unique flavors, and strive to integrate the brand's personality characteristics into fine wines. Since 2000, Sebastian has started to use Uco Vally grapes to make wine. Now, Sebastian and his family members are working together to build a new winery in Uco Vally to develop a larger production base. The family firmly believes that their goal is not to produce perfect wine, but to express the terroir characteristics of the region through wine.
ESCORIHUELA GASCÓN
In 1884, a man of vision and determination, Miguel Escorihuela Gascón, founded in Mendoza one of the most prestigious wineries in the Argentine Republic: Establecimientos Vitivinícolas Escorihuela Gascón. At the beginning of the winery, Miguel Gascón's main goal was to produce wines of the highest quality. To this end, he paid special attention to the selection and cultivation of grape varieties, using traditional winemaking methods and continuously introducing new technologies. The winery has a team of qualified Argentine professionals and is guided by famous foreign winemakers and technicians, ensuring that the wines always maintain a high level of international quality. In 1936, the winery successfully held the first "AlmuerzoVendimial", a luncheon where the most important representatives from the government (including the president), industry and the church gathered to discuss the future development of the city of Mendoza and the wine industry. By 1942, its trademark had achieved widespread recognition. They probably produce the world's first 100% malbec wine, and the winery's wines became one of President Perón's favorites. Bodegas Gagón remained in the hands of Mr. Gagón's successors until 1993, when a pioneering winegrower, Mr. Nicolas Catena, decided to acquire the winery and began to make the necessary investments to make Gagón one of Argentina's most famous wineries again. Over the past 15 years, Gagón, led by Mr. Catena's eldest son, Ernesto Catena, has been working hard to achieve their goal: to become the most well-known winery in Argentina, widely recognized in all interested markets for the excellent quality of its wine products, its long tradition, and the commitment of its human resources and suppliers. Today, after 140 years of innovation in high-quality winemaking, Gagón has become a leader in the field of creating premium and high-end wines, and is one of the 10 most important exporting wineries in Argentina.
FINCA EL ORIGEN Mabel Winery
FINCA EL ORIGEN Mabel Winery is a winery of the Carlo Wine Group in Argentina. The Carlo Wine Group has been active in Chile since 1875 and is part of Chile's historical heritage. Mabel wines present the alpine characteristics of the origin. The winery is located in the Chacayes region of the Uco Valley in Mendoza, which benefits from the influence of the Andes. In Argentina, the Uco Valley is synonymous with the Andes. Compared with other places in Mendoza, it is different from other places in Mendoza, with cold winters and lower summer temperatures. In addition, the microclimate of the region, the temperature difference between day and night, the permeability and calcareous soil of the soil, the diversity of the depth of the vineyard soil, and the pure snowmelt water in the region have created the alpine characteristics here.
ANDELUNA Winery
Andeluna Winery is located at the foot of the Andes Mountains in the Tupungato region of Mendoza, Argentina, at an altitude of 1,300 meters, which is an excellent environment for high-quality grape cultivation. Andeluna Winery was founded in 2003. It is a winery with a very forward-looking vision for high-quality wine production in Argentina; the original founders of the winery were Ward Ray (founder of PepsiCo in the United States) and Ricardo Reina Lutini (a pioneer in the Tupungato industry). Since 2013, Andeluna Winery has been taken over by the Barralai family, and has followed the footsteps and ideals of the founders, committed to the cultivation of talents and the construction and investment in innovation. Andeluna Winery has been tested by the market since its establishment, and has proved itself from one award after another. The awards it has won, from alcohol drinkers to wine observers to wine lovers, are all based on its strength to participate in international competition and verification.
TERRAZAS Winery
30 years ago, in order to find a unique grape plantation, Herve Birnie Scott, the founder of TERRAZAS Winery, began an adventure across the ocean. When he set foot on the land at an altitude of 1,000-1,600 meters in the Andes Mountains, the great temperature difference between day and night, the air and sunlight brought by the altitude showed him the ideal answer, and the story of TERRAZAS Winery began.
Among the grape plantations of TERRAZAS Winery, the most famous is the Malbec grape. In Herve Birnie Scott's heart, Malbec grapes have always been a shining star, even though it was eclipsed by natural disasters in the 19th century. When Herve Birnie Scott planted it in this magical land, the Malbec grape lived up to expectations, regained vitality, and successfully reached a new level.
With years of research on high-altitude grape cultivation technology, Bodegas Salentein not only won the "Argentine Winery of the Year" award from the IWSC (International Wine & Spirit Competition) in 2018, but also won the great honor of "Malmac of the Year" for its persistent exploration and unique wisdom in growing Malmac.
SALENTEIN Bodegas Salentein is located in the famous Uco Valley in Mendoza and is one of the first pioneers to settle in the area. The winery has established vineyards in many high-altitude areas around the world to produce a series of high-quality wines.
Today, Bodegas Salentein has become the largest winery in the Uco Valley and ranks 9th in the world's best vineyards in 2023. In 2008, Myndert Pon, the founder of Bodegas Salentein, visited the Pedernal Valley in San Juan and was inspired by the great beauty, uncultivated nature and diverse terroir. This inspiration, and his vision to showcase the top grapes grown in the Pedernal Valley, led to the creation of Pyros Wines, the first world-class wine collection that reflects the unique terroir of the Pedernal Valley.
PYROS is an outstanding example of an unusual and exclusive wine from Argentina. All the grapes for these wines come from the unique Pedernal Valley, a deep and isolated canyon located in the stunning foothills of the Andes in the province of San Juan. The Pyros vineyard is located in the southwest of the Pedernal Mountain, along the western slopes, at an altitude of 1400 meters, in a favorable area in terms of soil, weather and water. Its total area is 350 hectares, of which 80 hectares are planted with Malbec. As the Pyros vineyard is cultivated along the Pedernal Mountain, the soil is calcareous. The soils at the top of the slopes have a high percentage of pure limestone, and as we go deeper into the bottom of the Pedernal Valley, rocks of different sizes and compositions, together with other fine-grained soils, create an exceptional soil quality. This soil diversity has a clear effect on the vines, allowing a wide variety of wines to be produced in the same style. Furthermore, due to this unique location, the Pyros vineyards are exposed to constant breezes from the south, which contributes to the health of the vines.
